Speaking in front of a large audience can make anyone's hands sweat. When I joined the Management stream, classroom presentations were my biggest fear. However, participating in the SBS Debate Club completely changed how I speak.
To overcome stage fear, preparation is everything. Research your topic thoroughly. Second, focus on body language—stand straight, maintain brief eye contact, and speak at a steady pace. Breathing slowly before you step on the stage helps calm your nerves.
SBS provides countless platforms—including assemblies, exhibitions, and group presentations—where students can practice public speaking in a supportive environment. Overcoming stage fear has not only made me a better debater but has given me the confidence to express my business ideas clearly.
